Dr Julia Phillips is a consultant paediatrician with specialist interests in paediatric diabetes, management and leadership.
Julia is Deputy Clinical Director for Child Health at King’s College Hospital and leads the Paediatric Team at the Princess Royal University Hospital site.
Julia qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2004. She entered the specialist paediatric training programme in 2006. Training centres included; The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Kings’ College Hospital London and the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Julia gained extensive training in general paediatrics, paediatric intensive care, neonatology, paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, oncology and nephrology.
Julia has a passion for transforming services across organisations and works with commissioning groups to develop award winning, integrated paediatric nursing and paediatric primary care services. Julia has an interest in medical education and training and has won awards for Leadership in Education. Julia clinically supervises paediatricians in training, is an appraiser for consultant paediatricians and an instructor for advanced paediatric life support.
Julia’s clinical expertise includes a wide range of childhood conditions including acute, chronic and rare disorders. Conditions she has expertise in include; abdominal pain, gastro-oesophageal reflux, cough, asthma, urinary infections, enuresis, headaches, and disorders of development, puberty and growth. In her NHS role Julia also provides specialist clinics in paediatric diabetes including insulin pump therapy.
