Written By: Dr. Berrin Tezcan

Staying active during pregnancy can offer a wide range of benefits—but knowing how to exercise safely is essential. Exercise can help improve mood, reduce back pain, support healthy weight gain, and even ease labour.

Safe Exercises During Pregnancy

✔ Walking, swimming, and prenatal yoga
✔ Low-impact aerobics
✔ Pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises
✔ Light resistance training with guidance

Exercises to Avoid

⚠ High-impact or contact sports
⚠ Activities with a risk of falling (e.g. skiing, horse riding)
⚠ Overheating and lying flat on your back after 16 weeks

Every pregnancy is different, and your exercise plan should be tailored to your individual needs.
