I have been a Paediatric consultant since 2007, having started training in 1995 in Paediatrics. I qualified from Southampton medical school in 1994, and started my paediatric career at the Chelsea and Westminster and the Brompton hospital and then Guys Hospital. I then moved my training to South London and worked at both Kings College Hospital and St Georges Hospital as well as Brighton. I worked in Australia for a year in 2001, retrieving infants, children and young people from across New South Wales by Helicopter and road. This was a fabulous experience and on return undertook a PhD on the long term respiratory effects of RSV infection (bronchiolitis) on prematurely born infants, this was an amazing experience and took me down a more academic pathway.
I started as a consultant in 2007 at Kings College Hospital, specialising initially in high dependency care but have moved more towards general paediatrics (everyone from 1 day to 17 years with problems that bring them to the emergency department or referred by their GP). I manage and help to diagnose and treat children with most conditions, and where necessary, I refer them onto a specialist.
I have had held senior managerial roles, and otherwise I have focussed in Education and training roles, locally, regionally, nationally and at the NHS trust and also at universities. Including being the course director of a Paediatric MSc with Kings College London.
I started private paediatrics in London since autumn 2022 with Grosvenor Gardens Healthcare. I am a massive fan of all that the NHS does, and think it’s amazing at delivering especially emergency care, but sometimes parents and young people need easier access with a paediatrician because of their worries and concerns, and I have really enjoyed getting to know so many families so well and helping them through their situations. For me, the most important part about any healthcare provision is coproducing solutions together with the child, young person and family.
I am a proud south Londoner, having lived locally to Dulwich for most of my life. I love south East London, and for me, it’s the best part of London with massive green spaces, and great areas to live and great schools. I love living here with my family. So, working at the Croxted road practice feels like a home from home, but I am delighted that the Grosvenor Gardens Healthcare is expanding and the Belgravia building is truly beautiful and a privilege to work at.
If you chose to come to us for your child’s care, I look forward to getting to know you and co-producing a plan with your family, together! Contact us here
